Join us on May 25 at 7 pm to hear fresh work from three Oregon writers.

Jesse Donaldson was born and raised in Kentucky, educated in Texas, and now lives in Oregon. He is the author of The More They Disappear and On Homesickness.

David Turkel is a playwright, screenwriter and poet based in Corvallis, Oregon. His plays have been produced in abandoned chruches (Wild Signs), repurposed breweries (Holler), textile mills (Stroke/Book), lofts (F.O.R.D.), storefronts (Key to the Field, Crimson and Clover) and even the occasional theater (Nadia, ‘ratio). He was a founding member of Chapel Hill’s Somnabulist Project and Pittsburgh’s Bricolage Theatre companies. His play Clytemnestr@pocalypse premiered at the Théâtre National de Nice, France, March 2017. His newest, (ha)— a cabaret performance starring Eva Braun in Purgatory– is slated for a rolling premiere, including dates in Durham, NYC, Austin and Portland, in December 2019. Excerpts have been published in Opossum magazine, Fall 2018.

My Lungs Are a Dive Bar!  Ginsberg. Bukowski. Ginkowski: Dr. Walter Moore (BA, MFA, Ph.D.)–lauded bard who teaches in the School of Writing, Literature, and Film at Oregon State University–presents his dive bar book of guttural knowledge. Set in rural Indiana and urban Washington (some Texas too), these are “tween” poems for the everyperson. Poems that celebrate the all-but-forgotten beautifuls . . . an awards ceremony that offers saint statues to degenerates. This is a straightforward, accessible neo-beat/punkish book of poems intended for poetry and non-poetry readers alike. Maybe you will like it. These poems are deadpan & “gritty” — i.e. tough, dirty, blowhard-y, and tawdry/sophomoric at times — and confessional and weirdly political and (hopefully) funny with (again, hopefully) some redeeming qualities; read this book on the toilet with a quality beer in your hand.
