Organized by Portland poet A. Molotkov, The Voice of Empathy is a poetry series that showcases writers whose work investigates the human capacity for compassion and generosity and invites the reader/listener to care deeply for others and the world. Each reading will be followed by a Q&A.

The Voice of Empathy is a poetry series that showcases writers whose work investigates the human capacity for compassion and generosity and invites the reader/listener to care deeply for others and the world. This description is for the poets’ reference only and does not presume to impose any constraints on the work selected for presentation.

There is room for 37-39 poetry lovers. Please come a few minutes in advance to reserve your seats.

Willa Schneberg is a poet, visual artist, curator and psychotherapist in private practice. She has authored five poetry collections including: Box Poems (Alice James Books); In The Margins of The World, recipient of the Oregon Book Award, Storytelling in Cambodia, (Calyx Books), and her latest volume, Rending the Garment. Willa has read at the Library of Congress, and has been a fellow at Yaddo and MacDowell. Poems have appeared in numerous anthologies and literary journals, including: American Poetry Review; Salmagundi, Poet Lore; Bellevue Literary Review and Harpur Palate. In 2018, she served as a poet-in-residence in Kathmandu.

Jon Boisvert was born in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, and now lives in Oregon. He studied writing at the University of Wisconsin, Oregon State University, and the Independent Publishing Resource Center in Portland. Poems by Jon have recently appeared in Copper Nickel, jubilat, The Laurel Review. His first poetry collection, BORN, was published in 2017 by Airlie Press, and a chapbook, EGOCIDES, was released in 2018 by Canada’s above/ground press.
