Drop-in Writing Workshops for BIPOC Writers with Anya Pearson

These online workshops for BIPOC writers are designed to help you generate new material, refine an existing draft, or simply discover the permission to call yourself a writer. We will gather on Zoom on the first Sunday of each month (March-June) and hold space for each other, creating an online community with other BIPOC writers. Think of this as a playpen and creative incubator to support you as you generate writing and navigate building a creative practice and life in the arts. We will write together using specific prompts. IPRC Creative Writing Workshops for Winter 2021 will be held online via zoom, PST. Register here Taught by Catie Hannigan, Creative Semester is a new hybrid creative writing workshop that brings together creative practice, generative writing, critical discussion and an exploration of bookforms. With an emphasis on continual creative engagement participants will learn four bookforms in tandem with monthly generative writing prompts. The workshop will also incorporate asynchronous community engagement, with ample opportunity to give and receive feedback on creative work. Over the course of 6 months, participants will be challenged to explore craft choices through journaling & creative writing prompts, and assigned readings and book discussions. Marking Making & Comics Appreciation

*IPRC Winter & Spring Creative Writing Workshops will take place on zoom, PST Register here Mark Making and Comics Appreciation is a four-week workshop meeting on Sunday nights in April, taught by Liz Yerby. Each week, Liz will give a short lecture on a comics artist or aspect of the medium of comics, and then participants will do drawing exercises together. Between sessions there will be optional homework, such as doing a few 15-minute drawing exercises throughout the week and reading a comic book. The purpose of this class is to approach drawing in a manner that is experimental and kind.
