Hii y’all, we’re bringing book club back, but virtually! Since getting books might be a challenge right now. We’re mostly going to be reading articles that are easily accessible online.

We’re going to start with a couple of articles by Mikki Kendall, the author of Hood Feminism, and discuss them virtually on Wednesday the 6th at 7.30 p.m. Details on the virtual meeting space to come 🙂

Since we may have new participants here’s more information about the club:

WHAT IT IS: A book club geared to cultivating joy and empowerment for people of color.

IMPORTANT ITEMS IN HOPES OF BEING INCLUSIVE:

1. This group is being led by two femmes and the articles we chose will be works by authors who a part of the BIPOC community. Please be aware of intersectional privilege. We will not tolerate colorism, sexism, ableism, or homophobic or transphobic comments.

2. Even if you don’t like reading, or reading physical books isn’t the best learning style for you, you’re welcome to still join us for the conversation and community ♥.

3. Some of these books have heavy topics so we will be using trigger and content warnings —

4. Finally, we are open to feedback! So if you have suggestions on articles to add to the list, let us at ’em! Also, if not all the books interest you or are the best for you to read at this time — just come to the meetings that would best feed your spirit.

Allies are encouraged to donate to keep the causes that Stay Litt focuses on funded. Causes such as this book club, our storytimes, and our probono tutoring.
