Welcome to our Risograph Basics course: a printing, collage, experimentation, and mark making extravaganza! Get to know Outlet and our RISO sisters (Barbara, Janet, Corita, and Tina) and learn the basics of this fun and unique print method with Kate Bingaman-Burt! This workshop is a great place to start if you’re new to riso, or if you’d like a refresher! In this Intro Photoshop tutorial-based workshop, learn the basics of prepping files for printing. Learn the basics of touching up images of photos and illustrations, layer separation and best practices for CMYK printing.This workshop is open to all, but especially geared towards IPRC Members looking to learn more about file prep for screenprinting and risograph printing. Workshop: Tell Your Story! Risograph Printing and Zine Making with Kate Bingaman-Burt & Leland Vaughan (3 weeks)

Class Size: 15 | Leaders: Kate Bingaman-Burt & Leland Vaughan This workshop will focus on risograph printing and zine making, with an emphasis on using printmaking and books as vessels for your ideas and creative experiments. We’ll explore mark making, drawing, not-drawing, storytelling, collage, and more all through the lens of printing and zines! Zero drawing experience is needed—all are welcome! We kick perfectionism to the curb as we explore different materials, styles and concepts and make a collaborative riso-printed zine together. Come in and print in person with one of our knowledgable studio assistants! OPEN HOURS printing is a collaborative in-person way for you to print your risograph projects with us! You bring your files, your paper (or you can purchase from our selection here—we’ve got a ton of different papers), and your questions and chat with our staff to bring your print projects to life. You can be as hands-on or hands-off with the process during your appointment as you like. Before signing up, we ask that anyone utilizing open hours printing take our Riso Basics workshop (either in-person or online). If you already have experience riso printing that’s great too!
