Spring 2020 Online: May Writer of Color Sunday Morning Workshop

Searching for a space to create new work with fellow writers of color? This two-hour workshop meets on Zoom. Writers can register for one or more sessions. A variety of prompts will be presented as avenues for generating and sharing new work in an informal setting. Open to writers of color at all levels writing in poetry, fiction, or nonfiction. You can also bring your own prompts and questions about the writing process, and explore them with the group.
Emilly Prado (she/her) is the Interim Director of Youth Programs at Literary Arts. She began her work with the organization in 2017 as a Writer in the School before joining the staff in 2018 as a WITS Program Specialist and Apprentice Program Supervisor. Emilly’s work as a writer focuses on creative nonfiction and journalism, with an emphasis on amplifying the voices and experiences of people from marginalized communities. She is an award-winning multimedia journalist with publication in outlets including NPR, The Oregonian, Eater, The Stranger, and more. Emilly is the author of youth non-fiction title Examining Assimilation (Enslow, 2019) and self-published chapbook, Funeral for Flaca: a Mixtape Memoir in Essays. She is a Tin House Workshop alumna amongst others, and moonlights as a DJ with Noche Libre, the Latinx DJ collective she co-founded in 2017. Learn more at www.emillyprado.com
