A Literary Trivia Night in Portland!
March 28, 2019 @ 6:45 pm - 8:45 pm
FreeJoin us on Thursday, March 28th at 6:45 p.m. at Second Profession Brewing for a literary themed trivia night and social hour! Come network with fellow conference-goers as you play six rounds of literary trivia. You’re welcome to show up with a team, but you don’t have to, the whole point is to come meet other folks and get to know them over a game! Prizes will be awarded to the winning team (the prize is writer’s elixir, aka beer). Come through with your best literary puns. See you soon!

As a writer and AWP conference attendee, I know how painful it can be to break into the networking game on night one of the conference, especially if you don’t know anyone there. I wanted to create an event this year that eased the transition into off-site networking by providing a fun, participatory game for easy socialization.

Questions:
1. Will I be able to eat between the time the conference ends and the time the game starts?
You need not worry. Second Profession Brewing has a full menu and kitchen. The venue is about 3.5 miles (11 minutes) away from the conference center. So you’ll have plenty of time to make your way over.
2. I’m not a part of the conference/I have friends who are not a part of the conference. Can we still come?
Absolutely! While the game is geared towards AWP conference attendees, it’s open to the public.
3. Argh, but there are other offsite readings and events I want to go to! What to do?
Totally, and that’s why we’re starting and ending early. The goal is to whet your appetite for the night before you go out and mingle until the early hours of dawn. We promise to get you out by an early enough time so you can hit up other events throughout the city.
4. I suck at trivia though. Should I still come?
First of all, no one “sucks” at trivia. You know more than you think you do. Second, when else are you going to play 6 rounds of literary trivia with a bunch of other book nerds?! This is your time to shine!
