Arn Strasser, Terrain
Local poet and artist Arn Strasser joins us on Thursday, October 11th, at 7 pm to read from his newest collection of poems, Terrain, published by Budding Branch Books. This fourth collection of poems, contains a variety of poetic expressions – to love and nature, joy and loss, and what it means to be human. One section of the book features poems based on artists and writers and covers a diverse spectrum including Eva Hesse, Joan Miro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Mark Rothko. A longer poem, “Devotion,” is a meditation on the experience of being a poet. The book includes original artwork by the author as well. (You can also see some of his framed artwork hanging at Broadway Books.)
Strasser was born in Zurich, Switzerland, and raised in Great Neck, New York. He has had a wide academic experience with advanced degrees in history, chiropractice, and architecture. His previous collections of poetry are Incidental Longing, To the Poet Listening, and Before Dreaming.
