Fall 2020 Online: Drafting Collage

October 25, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$190
Online, N/A, Portland, OR 97207

The collage or braided essay weaves different narrative and thought threads into personal writing to represent a non-linear path of thinking through complex and difficult topics. In Drafting Collage, we will deepen our understanding of this form by using revision techniques and workshop to deepen an essay that students want to write or have already begun. Outside reading assignments and in-class writing and revision exercises will nuance our understanding of the form and allow for some experimentation and writing play. Students will have an opportunity to get feedback on their drafts in an inspired, supportive workshop setting.

October 25 – November 15, 2020
Sundays, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (4 meetings)
Instructor: Wendy Noonan
Wendy Noonan’s poetry has appeared in many journals, including Painted Bride Quarterly, Muzzle, Crazy Horse and 2River View. Her creative nonfiction, forthcoming in Diagram, was also featured in Meridian Journal as one of two finalists for their 2020 Editor’s Choice prize. Wendy teaches at Pacific Northwest College of Art and tutors at Portland Community College.
