“A short story is a love affair, a novel is a marriage. A short story is a photograph; a novel is a film.” ― Lorrie Moore
If you want to fall in love with the short story — or you already have — this is the workshop for you. We will practice how the short story form can open up unlimited possibilities for your creative writing as we explore the short story as a form and delve into elements of the writing craft, such as setting, point of view, scene-building, dialogue, plot, and character. We will work on a short story project during the class with the goal of completing a draft by the end of the course. No prior experience with writing workshops is needed and every effort is made to personalize the experience for each writer. The workshop will feature in-class writing, readings during the week, and sharing/group critique in class. | Maximum: 12 writers
