Mirrors and Closets: The Complex Journey of LGBTQ Twins & Their Siblings includes digitally recorded interviews of eighteen sets of twins who span the age spectrum, gender variance, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, sexual identities, religious upbringings and touch upon some of the more sensitive social issues like substance abuse, struggles with mental health and suicide.

Dani Dennenberg has a special place in her heart for words – adores etymology, playing Balderdash, and grew even fonder of them by listening to NPR’s “A Way with Words.” Her writing has been published in Veg News, Portland Upside, “The Expresso,” and online, she’s mailed hundreds of letters to legislators about social justice issues since she was 16, humbly keeps up with her blog, “Musings of An Empath.” This is her first book and she’s honored to share it with you. Dani’s an upcycling artist with her Magpie 18 company and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) degree.

Hava Dennenberg is insatiably curious about the ways things work, deeply drawn to the psychology and sociology of peoples. She’s written a smattering of social justice articles for local papers. She’s always been drawn to the power of the written word; its potential for impact, its ability to make story telling possible, its ability for inspiration. She often finds herself immersed in words, whether that’s through her love for used, local and mom & pop bookstores, through her crush on the library and near obsession with checking out books, to filling her bookshelves with more books, to spending her lunch breaks either reading books or the New York Times. She feels honored to share her story with you and the stories of other twin siblings interviewed over the past four years.
