The Future of Labor: Organizing Your Workplace in Physical (and Virtual) Space
The Growing Seeds Workers Union (GSWU) is a group made up of passionate childcare professionals who have been building a unionization campaign since February 2019. After going public in February 2020, we had a landslide victory in our vote to unionize on March 11th, just four days before the center temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Join organizers from GSWU for a talk about labor and the growing new dynamics of the labor movement as one of the few unionized private childcare centers in the U.S. We will share experiences and advice from our successful unionization campaign & how COVID-19 has shaped our online and remote organizing tactics.
We will discuss strategies, workplace rights, and best practices that we have learned over the past year, and what protections, supports, & power a union can create. We will answer questions from those interested in organizing their own workplace and discuss how to build a unionization campaign from the very beginning.
