Slamlandia Digital Open Mic ft. Adrienne Novy

Slamlandia is a poetry open mic and slam that meets every month. This mic provides a creative, fun, and welcoming space for all literary communities in Portland. We encourage poets new and old to come share their work. We strive towards a safer space for poets to read their own poetry, witness others, and participate in community.

Slamlandia is hosting another digital poetry open mic. This open mic – only poetry, no music please – will take place on August 19th. We’ll be hosting this event with the help of Literary Arts.

Sign ups for the open mic will be posted at 6:30pm PT day of via Facebook posts and an Instagram story. Comment / reply to get your name on the list (you can also sign up via the chat function in the Zoom). Our open mic will begin at 7pm. Poets gets 3 minutes to share poetry – please do not go over time.

We will have a feature from Adrienne Novy.

Adrienne Novy is a Jewish and neurodivergent artist with a rare genetic disorder. She is a nominee for Bettering American Poetry, the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, and is a 2020 graduate from Hamline University’s Creative Writing program. She is the author of Crowd Surfing With God (Half Mystic Press, 2018) and the mini-chapbooks, We Have Each Other’s Flowers (Zines + Things, 2020) and Pull (Ginger Bug Press, 2020). Her most recent work can be found in Passages North and You Flower/ You Feast: An Anthology of Prose, Poems, & Plays inspired by Harry Styles. She lives in the Midwest & has a cat named Laurie.
