Slamlandia Digital Open Mic ft. Shanna Alden + Erin Schick

FreeSlamlandia is hosting another digital poetry open mic. This open mic – only poetry, no music please – will take place on September 17th. We’ll be hosting this event with the help of Literary Arts.

Sign ups for the open mic will be posted at 6:30pm PT day of via Facebook posts and an Instagram story. Comment / reply to get your name on the list. Open mic will promptly begin at 7pm. Poets gets 3 minutes to share poetry – please do not go over time.
We will have a double feature from Shanna Alden and Erin Schick.
Shanna Alden (they/them) is a queer, nonbinary poet in the Pacific Northwest. Their work has been featured on Tell It Slant Radio, Wordlights Hour on Shady Pines Radio, Voicemail Poems, and the upcoming anthology In the Shadow of the Mic from Bridge and Tunnel books. Their fiction will be featured in Filth Lit Mag. Before the plague, they were a bartender, a barista, and a photographer who focused on human subjects and events.
Erin Schick (they/them) is a queer, trans, and multiply disabled social worker living in upstate New York focused on disability justice and queer liberation. Their interests include the Pacific Northwest, women’s soccer, and sled dogs.
A quick run down of Zoom: click the link we’ve shared, register, and that will give you access to the Zoom chat space on the 17th. During the show the host will keep everyone except the person currently reading muted – and then will unmute everyone for 5 seconds after poems are over for everyone to cheer.
