It’s time for another Slamlandia house show – this time featuring the wonderful Mike McGee!

This show will be held at Pointy House (2930 SE Clay Street) on Saturday, February 16th. Door opens & signups at 6:00pm, show starts at 6:30pm. Some snacks and drinks will be provided (on a donation basis) but feel free to bring your own!

Weather in Portland is a very real thing. If snow is too dangerous for travel, we will cancel the show. Stay tuned!

This house show will have an open mic that you can sign up to read in, as well as short spotlight features from local poets Robyn Bateman, Mindy Nettifee, and Brian Ellis, and a featured slot from the one and only Mighty Mike McGee.

Mighty Mike McGee is a well-traveled funny hobo-poet from San José, California. He is the first and only poet to win both the 2003 National Poetry Slam Grand Championship and the 2006 Individual World Poetry Slam Grand championship. McGee is a co-founder of the live spoken word groups Tons of Fun University (TOFU) with Shane Koyczan and C.R. Avery. He also co-founded The Whirlwind Company with Mindy Nettifee, Brian S. Ellis, and Jon Sands, and the Poetry Revivals with Dan Leamen, Derrick Brown, Buddy Wakefield and Anis Mojgani. He was appointed Poet Laureate of Santa Clara County (Silicon Valley) for 2018 & 2019. McGee’s first collection of humor and poetry, In Search of Midnight, is available through Write Bloody Publishing. He can be found somewhere between Silicon Valley and Vancouver, B.C. as often as possible. Visit mightymikemcgee.com and follow him on Twitter: @mikemcgee

Note of accessibility: The show will take place on the first floor of a house. The performance space is on hardwood floors. There are two steps leading up to the front door of the house. The bathroom is accessible on the first floor. There will be space to sit on the floor or stand, but chairs/couch will also be provided and given priority to those who need it.
