Teens: Choosing a Career in the Creative Industries
February 6, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
$10What does it mean to say, “I want to be an artist?” In this virtual workshop, we’re bringing together college counselors, art directors, professional artists, and art administrators to talk about what it really means to work in the creative sector. Not everyone becomes a studio artist – many become corporate product designers, nonprofit arts administrators, social justice advocates, business owners and more!
Find the right college, explore the many directions you can go in the creative sector, and hear answers to the infamous question, “how do you make a living as an artist?” Our panel of creative professionals will guide you through an activity to give you meaningful steps to take toward the career you want.
We invite young artists of all media – visual, literary, performing, culinary, design, and more.
Panelists:
Leah Payne, MFA in Collaborative Design and BridgeLab Career Services at Pacific Northwest College of Art
Danielle Gurley, Freelance Producer and instructor at r/Advertising School
Andre Middleton, Executive Director at Friends of Noise
