The Last Stand Featuring Sean Davis
November 5, 2018 @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm
FreeHere we go again folks! Join us for The Last Stand Featuring Sean Davis on Monday 11/5/18!
Sean Davis is the author of The Wax Bullet War, a Purple Heart Iraq War veteran, and the winner of the Legionnaire of the Year Award from the American Legion in 2015 and the recipient of the Emily Gottfried Emerging Leader, Human Rights award for 2016. His stories, essays, and articles have appeared in the Ted Talk Book, The Misfit’s Manifesto (Simon and Schuster), Forest Avenue Press anthology City of Weird, Sixty Minutes, Story Corps, Flaunt Magazine, The Big Smoke, Human the movie, and much more.
Sean can also be found fighting those fires we see in the news. I (Garrett) am hosting this month and asked Sean to feature because he is an example to other veteran writers and Veterans Day is coming up as well as the Centennial for the end of World War I which produced some of the most powerful war poetry to date.
I encourage any veteran poets in town to come in this month and share their work. A decade ago I was able to dive into writing about combat trauma at this reading, do some healing, and learn how to make my writing more effective. Anti-war poetry is also very welcome, along with all other poetry. See you on the 5th!
