Melody Bush, a librarian assistant and book lover from childhood, was dismayed to see old books discarded for lack of a good home. She discovered the art of book excavation and knew she had found her calling. Book excavation involves cutting into the book’s cover and carving away parts of pages, exposing the images and words within. Bush digs through pages, unearthing the underlying theme of the book and using her artistic sense to bring the book back to life as a visual delight.
