Ooligan Press is hosting the annual Write to Publish conference this spring! This year’s theme is A Writer’s Guide to Publishing. Write to Publish is a one-day event that brings aspiring writers together with local publishers and industry professionals in order to demystify the publishing process. This fundraising event makes it possible for Ooligan Press to continue teaching the craft of publishing to new generations of students and issuing further works of significance in the rich literary tradition of the Pacific Northwest. “Comics in the Classroom” Workshops at PSU

This one-day conference, designed for teachers and librarians, will focus on how to use graphic novels in educational settings. Topics will include practical tips for incorporating comics in existing curricula, approaches for different age/grade levels, and teaching about the mechanics of sequential art. Participants will get takeaways such as example lesson plans with discussion guides, classroom and homework activities, handouts, assessments, project ideas, and rubrics. It is the largest fundraising event for both the program and the student-run general trade publisher, Ooligan Press. This event serves as an open house for people interested in the publishing program, while also being a great networking event for local publishers and writers.
