Community Art Day is bringing people together to connect and create every 2nd and 4th Sunday from 2-6 pm. This free event is open to the public and features art classes, collaborative projects, supplies to do your own thing and a creation station made just for kids! There will be a different art form with support from a local artist every time.
👻 The IPRC will be open Sunday 9/4 for special Ghost Print Zine studio time! 👻 Kids and teens are welcome to stop by between 2-5pm to hang out and make art to go into the next issue of the zine. 🎨 Feel free to bring what you like to create with! Basic art supplies and collage materials provided. Please share with young artists you know! *Masks required. Proof of vaxx for those eligible will be checked at the door. About the Workshop Welcome to our Risograph Basics course: a printing, collage, experimentation, and mark making extravaganza! Get to know Outlet and our RISO sisters (Barbara, Janet, Corita, and Tina) and learn the basics of this fun and unique print method with Kate Bingaman-Burt! This workshop is a great place to start if you’re new to riso, or if you’d like a refresher! We’ll take a deep dive into risograph history, an overview of how these machines work, the stencil-duplicator process, and the quirks and fun (sometimes unpredictable) outcomes of riso printing. The main focus of this class is EXPERIMENTATION. We’ll share print and zine inspiration, favorite mark making tools and how to use them for riso, and we’ll walk through a print demo on…

This course for dedicated writers is designed to guide you through the writing and/or revising of your novel. It runs from September through May. You’ll read excerpts from published novels by authors including Han Kang, Tommy Orange, Lina Meruane, Mitchell S. Jackson, Deborah Levy, and Susan Steinberg, as well as craft essays by authors including Dorothy Allison, Jane Alison, and Alexander Chee. Some weeks you’ll have craft assignments to complete outside of class, and other weeks we’ll do in-class exercises together. After the first month of meetings, two students will workshop each week. Each student will have the opportunity to workshop five times, turning in up to 25 double-spaced pages per submission. Students should be prepared to read and comment on up to 50 pages…

The 2022 Portland Zine Symposium will be September 17th and 18th! Tabling will be 11am-5pm with different tablers both days!
