Wordlights Poetry Popup Show is coming to Honey Latte Cafe on Sunday, September 18th! Come and enjoy a feature by Kim Shuck and bring your poem to our open mic. ~ About Our Feature ~ Kim Shuck is a silly protein. Shuck is solo author of nine books, two prose and seven poetry. She has edited, co-edited, or assistant edited a further eight anthologies of poetry, primarily from around the San Francisco Bay Area. Kim served as the 7th Poet Laureate of San Francisco and when the pandemic shut down started she organized a poem of the day project through the San Francisco Public Library, featuring street poets, young poets, elder poets and every once in awhile a well known poet. This is Portland: An Evening of Poetry & Music

Perhaps the most wild and unique reading Portland has seen in years. Clear your calendar for this event! Presented collaboratively by Buckman Journal and Future Prairie, This is Portland brings together creativity across medium, making for a multi-genre performance. Local poets will share short-form work and will be joined by musicians offering instrumental accompaniment and interludes throughout the evening. All in attendance, including the audience, will be encouraged to contribute to a collaborative piece of writing, by offering a line in a crowd-sourced poem which will be composed in real-time during the event and then compiled and printed in the next issue of Buckman Journal.
