Taxonomy Based Writing Workshop (presented by Bigfoot Regional)

Our surroundings provide us with wonder. Language blossoms from the same roots the flowers do. This generative writing workshop will use floral native to Oregon as inspiration for blossoming new work. Event hosted by Jayy Dodd. This event is free and open to the public as part of The Bigfoot Regional Poetry Slam, a two-day poetry festival and competition happening in Downtown Portland.

Oh Word!? is a generative & developmental workshop space where writers will bring both original work & create new work from found & provided materials. Each session will feature a creative exercise & dedicated workshop time for works in progress. Structurally, we will be navigating media, poetics & the digital landscapes of which we attempt to make sense. Works created or completed in the workshop sessions will be collected into a small bound zine & participating writers would be invited to read a public installation. Dates: Mondays 7-9pm July 15th – August 12th Class Capacity: 10 Price: Sliding scale $25-50* Audience: QTBIPOC Instructor: jayy dodd *2 scholarships spots available.
