Deadline: NACF Native Arts Emergency Support Project

In response to the crisis and hardships brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation (NACF) has launched the Native Arts Emergency Support Project (NAESP), aimed at providing support for our Native artists whose livelihoods and families have been impacted by COVID-19. This is the second phase of the NAESP, and we are accepting applications from local Portland (OR) metro area artists (full eligibility criteria below). In the first phase NACF was able to provide support to 70 of its previous awardees through two funding cycles. Monies for the NAESP have been reallocated and repurposed from NACF funds as designated by the board of directors and staff leadership. SHIFT – Transformative Change and Indigenous Arts Webinar

This webinar will provide an overview and information on how to apply to Native Arts and Cultures Foundation's new program, SHIFT - Transformative Change and Indigenous Arts. The SHIFT – Transformative Change and Indigenous Arts program supports artist and community-driven projects responding to social, environmental or economic justice issues through a Native lens. The program focuses on efforts that are built upon community cultural assets, resilience and strengths and draw increased attention to Native communities, perspectives and challenges, shifting a national narrative of invisibility, misunderstanding and misappropriation. SHIFT provides invaluable resources for project development, production and presentation for the artists and their collaborators. Telling the Story of Portland – Mayor’s Office Native Art Project

The Portland Mayor’s office, working in partnership with the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation, is looking to showcase the work of 3-4 Native artists. The theme is to tell a story of the Indigenous Peoples in the Portland Metropolitan area, past, present, and future. Selected artwork will be purchased for the City of Portland’s art collection and will be installed in the lobby of the Mayor’s office. INTENTION: In an effort to increase Native American visibility and convey a more equitable perspective of Portland’s history, artwork created by Native artists will replace portraits of previous mayors that are currently displayed in the entrance to the Mayor’s office.
