Tarot Elements (Llewellyn) shares five different readings to help you clarify your situation, unstick your life, and move forward to a better version of yourself – even if you feel like a complete mess. Melissa Cynova noticed that clients often turn up for readings with extremely complicated problems. She developed the five readings described in Tarot Elements as a program for hitting the reset button on life. Cynova’s book shows you how to do the five readings, so that you can focus on one aspect of a problem at a time and resolve the issues that are holding you back. Cynova will be joined in conversation by Sara Benincasa, author of Real Artists Have Day Jobs.

Spring/Summer 2019 Workshop Series Channeling the Creative Self Through Tarot and Magic with instructor Coleman Stevenson This workshop will introduce a range of spontaneous and magical methods for accessing creative impulses. We will find “the muse” in unexpected places and practice allowing it to come through without restriction. Prompts will use methods such as divination, magical writing, spontaneous mark-making, and severe constraints. We will also examine the work of artists and writers who have employed such methods in their own creations. This class is designed for artists and writers who want to broaden or recharge their practices, or for anyone seeking a greater connection with their creative self. In this three week Summer Delve, we will study the narratives hidden within the archetypal imagery of the tarot deck, focusing on the Major Arcana in the first week and the four suits in the second week. We will explore traditional ways these tales have been told as well as locate our personal stories within the classic images. Through this crash course in tarot storytelling, participants will also learn some basics of reading the cards for self-study, focusing on an intuitive approach to interpretation. The second volume of the Underland Tarot series has arrived. This one is called Eighteen, and it is symbolic of the great river at night, where the wolves howl and all doors are open. All thresholds are possible, and every truth is elusive. The Eighteenth Tarot card is the Moon, and those who raise their arms to her know she offers Mercy and Severity in equal measure. HOCUS is a quarterly reading event in the guise of a secret society. Our reading events are simultaneously silly and serious. "Hilarious," "profound," "close to the bone," and "goofy" are all words which were bandied about by attendees of our last event. Submissions are now open for our May 20th event. The theme is The Tarot. Works of prose or poetry which deal with this theme, either directly or obliquely, are welcome. We are looking for work which falls within the "literary" genre. No fantasy, sci-fi, horror, or romance please.

The HOCUS Tarot Method is a flexible, fun, and surprising way of generating short pieces with characters and themes which you didn't suspect were lurking in your subconscious. This two-hour workshop will include instruction and writing time, as well as opportunities for limited sharing, and will be led by HOCUS Grand Scribe Andrew Fort and HOCUS Grand Editor and Tarot expert Erik Arneson.
