The Gravity of the Thing's Summer 2019 reading period closes today, July 31st. They're accepting defamiliarized works of short stories (3,000 words or less of fiction, nonfiction, or hybrid), flash works (under 500 words), poetry (up to 3 poems or 500 words or less), six word stories (up to 5 pieces), and brief essays for their Baring the Device column. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, only previously unpublished works will be considered, and they ask you to only submit once per reading period. As it is our goal to support emerging writers, this is our way of creating a welcoming space for writers and artists who are new to publishing.
