Join artist Hannah Newman and Carnation Contemporary at Kenton Park for a relaxing afternoon of cloud watching, as we observe the constantly shifting shape of the clouds above and around us. Listen to an audio tour of the waves of data in the sky, draw a sketch of the clouds, or simply lay on a blanket and let the clouds pass by! Dogs, children, and families welcome! Greetings literature lovers, Please join us for a night of celebration as we welcome Pointed Circle Issue 35 into the world! Contributors from issue 35 will be reading excerpts of their work and copies of the journal will be for sale sliding scale 5-10$ with all proceeds going to the IPRC! PCC Cascade's student editors will also be selling copies of their chapbooks, an excellent bookfair opportunity for you! support your local writers! The Books Around the Corner Book Talk Book Club is led by the owner/librarian, Stephanie Rose, and meets monthly on Wednesday every month. We would like to extend an invitation to all of our customers (RSVP is not required). Bring whatever book your are reading or have recently finished and book talk it to the group. This is a great way to find books outside of your genre that you may not have otherwise been introduced to! Our book discussions aim to bring people together to talk about books in a safe and inviting atmosphere. Our meetings are lovely and inclusive; we invite you to attend. Cascade Booksellers Association is proud to announce the 13th annual Rose City Book & Paper Fair. This year we welcome more than 60 dealers of the best in used, rare and antiquarian books and ephemera to the DoubleTree Hotel in Portland, Oregon the weekend of June 14 & 15. In addition to dealers from Oregon and Washington, we welcome dealers from California and other western states. From pulps to parchment, the simple to the sublime, a wide range of printed material will be on offer for the weekend to seasoned collectors, serious readers and curious newcomers. How do we engage with visual art? Is there a way of fostering dialogue between the viewer and the art work? Can we create a script for deepening our experience of aesthetic appreciation, and as artists & writers can we use this as an opportunity to deepen our own creative practices? Join artist Katherine Spinella and poet Hajara Quinn to talk about creative practice, respond to ekphrastic prompts in conversation with the exhibition, and create your own script— an Ekphrastic Questionnaire of your own that you can take with you.
