An extra hangout session on Fridays at 1pm for participants of Wednesdays’ Art Club! This is not a class, but Sue Pezanoski Browne will be facilitating. In this workshop hosted by Marina Martinez-Bateman, we will be deconstructing the toxic habit many of us have of associating our worth with our ability to produce. Especially in this uncertain and stressful time, we feel external pressure to make work that will help others contextualize a situation we ourselves may not yet have a handle on. Add to that isolation combined with a constant social media feed of friends and colleagues to unfairly compare ourselves to, and this is a recipe for despair. We will talk about where toxic productivity comes from, how to identify it, and we will practice some exercises that will help us develop other coping strategies. Time isn’t real, the year 2020 is an exhausting tornado, and on July 11th and 12th, #virtualpzs will be happening on the internet. We are currently in planning stages, but below is a list of some of our programming. We have not yet set a schedule, but all programming will take place between 11am-6pm on July 11th and 12th. Radical Animal-Style Singalong Kids of all ages and kids at hearts are invited to join Sine in the animal kingdom for a radical singalong to lift our spirits, soothe our hearts, and share some laughter and fun! Come and fold with an IPRC member/volunteer & origami instructor/author, Yuki Martin on Zoom! You will need either origami paper*, or regular copy paper cut down to the dimensions of a square. Yuki will show you a few fun, summery models, including a rose and butterfly. All ages & skill levels are welcome. The materials needed would be a few sheets of standard size (6″x6″) origami paper* or copy paper cut into a square.
