The African and African American experience comes alive for children from birth to age 6 (with a favorite adult and other family members). In a positive and affirming environment, have fun with books and stories, songs, and movement activities. Black Storytime builds language and literacy skills your child needs to be ready for kindergarten.

We are into genuine connection, laughter, heartbreak, poignant moments, and community building. We are now in our third season, and we are very excited for all the shows coming up this year. An engaging evening with some of Milwaukie and Portland's most talented hybrid artists performing works that integrate poetry or storytelling with other art forms on the themes of place, home, and rootedness (or lack of). Gentrification in Portland and the city’s redlining past go under the microscope in Darrell Grant’s jazz-classical chamber opera, Sanctuaries, with a libretto by two-time National Poetry Slam Champion Anis Mojgani and directed by Alexander Gedeon.
