Based on their acclaimed community writing model, "Prompt" is a generative workshop that offers exercises to inspire the writing life. Workshop fee ($300) includes snacks, access to the “bowels of Powell’s” and helps to fund workshops for low-income youth and adults. This workshop takes place on Mondays, January 28 - April 1. Portland Story Theater’s Art of Personal Narrative workshop gives participants an opportunity to discover and craft a personal story and deliver it in its true form: naked, fresh, revealing. Every participant will perform a 10-12-minute story before a live audience at an Urban Tellers show. This is a modern take on an ancient tradition: personal narrative, spoken straight from the heart. Only six (6) adults (18+) are eligible to participate in each workshop. Come join Zachary Schomburg this early spring at Outlet for a six week Poetry workshop. This will be a generative poetry workshop for poets at all levels. The main focus will be to sustain a poetry writing practice for six weeks with access to a small group of focused readers. After each workshop, Zachary will give the group a prompt/assignment to complete for the week, one that addresses some aspect of poetry writing brought up in your group conversations. The participants will spend the beginning of the following week's workshop discussing your experiences with the assignment.
