As we transition from summer to autumn, the equinox asks us to honor the changing seasons with a balance of light and dark. Traditionally, this is a time for gathering, grounding, and comfort. The veil between the spiritual and mortal worlds is particularly thin around the autumnal equinox. Our variety show is inspired by the chautauquas of the 19th and early 20th centuries, where people from all walks of life came together to experience education, entertainment, and culture for the whole community, with speakers, teachers, musicians, and entertainers. The Professional Development Grant Program supports artists, arts professionals, and arts organizations in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties with up to $2,000 toward distinct opportunities that will push forward their creative practice and business skill development. The Professional Development Grant Program is centered on whether the opportunity you would like funding for 1) is distinct from other experiences you have had previously, 2) is timely, meaning you are in a prime position now to benefit from the opportunity, and 3) has potential for new professional growth. Note: The opportunity you apply with cannot be geared toward the creation of a specific art project. If you are interested in grants for specific art projects, refer to our Project Grants Program.
