For their "Rad Readers" series, available from May 28 through July 1, the artisan ice creamery Salt & Straw is teaming up with Scholastic to offer five flavors inspired by children's books. They're also adding a pride-themed virtual component with a series of story hours and ice cream tastings on Instagram Live in partnership with the nonprofit Drag Queen Story Hour. Queens Yves Saint Croissant, Pickle, and Lulu Luscious will read from pride-themed books as well as the books that inspired the current flavors and will perform lip syncs. Salt & Straw will also raise funds for the nonprofit during the events. Class Size: 15 | Leaders: Kate Bingaman-Burt & Leland Vaughan This workshop will focus on risograph printing and zine making, with an emphasis on using printmaking and books as vessels for your ideas and creative experiments. We’ll explore mark making, drawing, not-drawing, storytelling, collage, and more all through the lens of printing and zines! Zero drawing experience is needed—all are welcome! We kick perfectionism to the curb as we explore different materials, styles and concepts and make a collaborative riso-printed zine together. In this Intro Photoshop tutorial-based workshop, learn the basics of prepping files for printing. Learn the basics of touching up images of photos and illustrations, layer separation and best practices for CMYK printing.This workshop is open to all, but especially geared towards IPRC Members looking to learn more about file prep for screenprinting and risograph printing. While there is much to lament or critique in our current ecological moment, there is also much to honor and embrace. When we fall in love with a place, we can be receptive to its vital complexity through that lens of love. Midsummer Poetry Camp is a 6-week long writing intensive for Queer & Trans writers. Students will take part in weekly workshops via Zoom, with assignments & peer feedback due at each session & a class reading at the end of the session.
